Antigua
For one of my final undergraduate projects, I created a visual identity system for a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During my preliminary research, I found myself drawn to Antigua, a small Guatemalan city full of colorful Spanish colonial buildings where Holy Week (Semana Santa) is celebrated each year with the creation of intricate and beautiful handmade carpets (alfombras).

I explored many ideas for a site logo before settling on a custom type treatment for the word "Antigua" that mimicked the shape of the city's famous Santa Catalina arch.
The color palette and the fifth element (pattern) that I came up with both primarily borrow from the colors and designs that make up Antigua's gorgeous celebratory "alfombras."

The next step was applying this identity system to a variety of materials, including a stationery suite, information sheet, and promotional booklet. Here, I was able to explore my identity system within a ton of different layouts and decide how to treat color, type, and photography.
