information design

year: 2019
role: student under Katy Harris

An artistic visual designer at heart, this course was an opportunity for me to challenge a part of my brain that I hadn't challenged in a long time by designing with data.

COUNTRY DATA

For the class final project, we were assigned to document a huge range of complex data about a random country. We were also encouraged to theme our information in some way. I was assigned to South Africa, and I chose to theme some of my information around the country's lively floral ecosystem.

PROJECT3-01

THREE TRIPS

Another project challenged us to consider three trips that we have taken in our lives—one within the campus bounds, one within the bounds of the United States, and one worldwide. We were asked to depict ten pieces of information about all of the three trips. I created a quad-fold booklet with a map of the trip on one side of the page and the data about the trip on the reverse side.

PROCESS DIAGRAM

For this project, we were asked to visually depict ten steps of a complex process. I chose a process that sustains me day-in and day-out—the coffee brewing process.
